UK Disability History Month (UKDHM) is an annual event creating a platform to focus on the history of disabled people’s struggle for equality and human rights.
Lewisham Disability Coalition is keen to mark this during 2015 with a range of grassroots community based events across the borough.
For 2015 the theme is portrayal of disability: then and now.
It will examine the way disability and disabled people have been portrayed in literature, pictures, sculpture, photographs, advertising, journalism, media and film in past periods and now.
LDC supports the ‘social model’ approach to disability so we want to celebrate the positive contribution of disabled people to our community, past and present.
We want to hear from our members and supporters. How best can we mark this month in Lewisham?
