Support us Lewisham Disability Coalition offers free, independent and confidential advice and information on issues such as welfare rights, transport, education, housing adaptations, hate crime and discrimination law. In the 12 months to September 2016 we supported more than 1,000 individual clients. We are part of the Community Connections Consortium, supporting people to healthy living through matching individuals to activity in the community. We are increasingly providing support for disabled people, their families and carers through hardship grants and signposting to food banks. We also work to ensure disabled people’s views are held when major local consultations take place and advocate on behalf of the ‘social model of disability’ to address barriers to equal participation. We are a registered charity and a company limited by guarantee and our mission is to empower local disabled people but we need more of our supporters to help us continue with our vital services. We fulfill a very important job in tough economic times and central government budget cuts affecting our core funder.
