Universal credit is currently rolling out across the UK. However roll-out is not due to be complete until 2022. In the interim, whether a person can claim universal credit in their area is somewhat of a postcode lottery.
Lasa’s rightsnet team and the Low Incomes Tax Reform Group (LITRG) have launched a new universal credit web tool.
It can be used to help people check whether they can claim universal credit in their postcode area (and the status of tax credits and other benefit claims), with links to information about how universal credit works and to details of independent local advice organisations across Great Britain.
